This department is overseen by a seven member Conservation Commission.  This department applies the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and the Dartmouth Wetlands Protection By-Law.  The Commission's enforcement power covers large areas adjoining salt and fresh water bodies.  The Commission protects wetlands surrounding areas such as: beaches, lakes, marshes, ponds, rivers, streams and tidal flats.  This office also coordinates its Annual Household Hazardous Waste Day with Town Meeting for all Dartmouth residents.
