Registration Information

Date:  May 1 - August 14, 2015 (in person)

Time:  Monday - Friday 9:00 A.M. - Noon

Location:  Town Hall, Room 108, 1st floor

Payment:  Must be paid by check to the Town of Dartmouth



General Information / Policies

Program Policies  
All programs are offered on a first come, first served basis, all welcome. Payment is due in full by check at time of registration.  Please note that the playground centers fill to capacity quickly.  Be sure to register early for multiple weeks.  Dartmouth Recreation reserves the right to cancel any program that does not meet sufficient enrollment.  No program confirmations are sent out. A participant is registered when payment is received. We will only notify you if there are any problems.  Switching to another program or week is not permitted once that program has been filled.
Late Pick-up  
There will be a $20 charge for a 15 minute late pick-up, $30 for 30 minutes, $40 for 45 minutes and $50 for an hour.  After one hour child and family services will be called if there is no response from the parents or the emergency contacts.  Continuous tardiness and or failure to pay the late fees will result in the child’s non-refundable termination from the program.
Parent Packets  
Parent packets will be handed out at the time of registration for the Play/Swim Centers or can be downloaded from the town website www.town.dartmouth.ma.us prior to registering.  Enclosed you will find several forms such as medical, discipline and parental policies to be completed prior to the start of all programs.  In addition, a physical exam form from your child’s pediatrician is required; dated within one year of the program start (for playground/swim centers only).  You will not be able to register for the playground centers without the Doctor’s form!
Payment / Refunds  
Payment is due in full at the time of registration by check or money order ONLY made payable to the Town of Dartmouth. A fee of $25.00 will be charged for insufficient funds.  No refunds will be given unless program is cancelled.
Videotaping and Photography  
At times media outlets such as the local newspaper or DCTV may want to photograph or video the kids at play to go along with a story or informational video or we may want pictures to display in the Parks & Recreation Office or on our website.  If you do not wish your child to be photographed or videotaped, please put this request in writing and send it to the Parks & Recreation office.
Instructors  
All Dartmouth Recreation Instructors undergo a CORI background check by the State Criminal History Systems Board and are CPR certified.
Age Requirements  
Age requirements must be followed in order to maintain the state requirements of one instructor per ten students age 7+ and one per five students ages 5 & 6.

        Tennis Lessons   

Each participant age 5 & up will be given an hour lesson on Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday for a total of seven weeks.

Level Descriptions

Beginner:  No experience to limited experience
Novice:  Knowledge of basic forehand and backhand, Able to hit both forehand and backhand with limited consistency, Limited knowledge of volleys and overheads, Somewhat limited skill in both placement and aim
Intermediate:  Hits forehand and backhand with regular consistency, Good knowledge of volleys and overheads, Good skill with placement and aim, Limited knowledge and experience with serving
Proficient:  Extensive ground strokes skill, Extensive ability with volleys and overheads, Demonstrated knowledge of serving, Advanced placement and aiming techniques, Knowledge of positioning, scoring, and etiquette


        Golf Lessons

Each participant will be given a one-hour small group lesson on Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday.  Hawthorne Country Club has a dress code; therefore children must dress appropriately:  No jeans or jean shorts, T-shirts, swim wear or gym clothing.  Meet at the North side of the parking lot on the first day.  Clubs will be provided, unless you have your own.  Registration sheet and consent form must be filled out completely.

Our playground center offers a safe place for children while giving them the opportunity to experience new things, make new friends and most importantly to have fun!  Come join our friendly staff for a week or even two.   Pick your theme week below and you’re sure to enjoy the field trip and planned activities.  Don’t delay, register today!  Enrollment limited to 40 children.  Please note that the playground centers fill to capacity quickly.  Be sure to register for multiple weeks upfront.  A copy of your child’s physical must be presented at time of registration along with a parent packet.  Parent packets may be downloaded from our website ahead of time for quicker registration.

        “Frozen” Musical Theatre Class

Come join in on the fun of learning how to take part in a musical theatre performance.  Children will learn the basics of putting together a production.  In this class, boys and girls will audition for a role in the musical "Frozen". This 45 min. performance has been rewritten along the theme of the original "Frozen". Children will sing, dance, and act their way into a world of excitement.  Students should bring snacks, drinks and a lunch.         Minecraft Mania

Wicked Cool For Kids is excited to introduce Minecraft Mania - a blend of virtual learning and companion hands-on activities that explore science and engineering using Minecraft. Kids use an interactive avatar to investigate a virtual educational environment.  Minecraft Mania lessons have both virtual and real world components covering geology, engineering, physics, and biology. Serious Minecraft Maniacs will be excited to learn about the properties of rocks and minerals and take home their own rock collection. Kids use their skills to build skyscrapers & simple machines as well as plant their own crops in enjoyable experiential challenges. So join us for a week of fascination in our mobile virtual classroom!minecraft.jpg

        Minecraft Mastercrafters

Experience Minecraft Mastercrafters, an advanced Minecraft program where educational gaming is offered in conjunction with our hands on science and engineering activities as focused, companion lessons.  Think you've got what it takes to be a Mastercrafter?  Hone your Minecraft skills in this teacher-controlled platform where we learn and interact virtually in a classroom setting.  Student teams will explore, manipulate, problem-solve and build in worlds that have been customized for Wicked Cool learning activites.  We will become Mastercrafters as we focus on energy, powering mechanisms, and using red stone to build and design our way through the tricky labyrinth of the "Mastercrafter Island".
