The Dartmouth Park Department’s Annual Triathlon has been an overwhelming success since its start sixteen years ago. The triathlon will be held at 8:00 A.M. on Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Round Hill Beach in Dartmouth, rain or shine. It consists of a 1/4-mile swim; a 9.5 mile bike ride through the scenic roads of Southern Dartmouth; and a 3-mile run.
The triathlon has attracted hundreds of participants from all over the East Coast and Canada from professional athletes to teams made up of family members and friends. Although the course is challenging, you don’t have to be a triathlete! Awards will be given to the top three males or females in each age group as well as the top three male, female or mixed teams. Special awards are given to the first Town Resident and the first Town Employee Team. There will be no duplication of awards. Entries must be received by August 1, 2011 in order to receive a tee shirt. The registration fee is $55.00 for individuals and $70.00 for teams. An extra $5.00 will be applied for late registration. The triathlon is a great event for everyone to participate in and a lot of fun. We encourage you to sign up early, pick up a tee shirt, and help us make this year’s triathlon a success. Remember it is for a good cause so gather up your friends and family and join us on August 14, 2011.
