Accounting Department
The Accounting Department is responsible for the maintenance of all financial records to insure compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations.

Animal Control
This department handles animal issues pertaining to stray/loose dogs, dog licensing/violations, stray/feral cats, loose livestock, animal bites, quarantines, livestock permits, and barking dogs complaints.

Assessor
The Assessor's Office comes under the direct supervision of a three member, elected Board of Assessor's.

Board of Appeals
The Board of Appeals is under the jurisdiction of Section 14, Chapter 40A of the General Laws of Massachusetts. The Board consists of six members who are appointed by the Select Board - three of which are associate members.

Board of Health
The Dartmouth Board of Health's mission is to foster a healthy community by working to protect the community from environmental hazards, prevent the spread of disease, to assure safe water, a safe and healthy food supply, clean air, and acceptable housing.

Building Department
The purpose of the Department of Inspectional Services is to insure public safety, health and welfare insofar as they are affected by building construction, use and occupancy.

Community Development / Grants
The mission of the Community Development / Grants Department is to undertake initiatives and identify opportunities to enhance the economic and social well-being of the Town - its residents and businesses.

Community Television (DCTV)
Dartmouth Community Media (DCTV) is a municipal department committed to empowering the community by producing engaging content that is distributed through various media platforms.

Construction Division
The Construction Division is responsible for the construction of new drainage improvements, replacement of existing water mains, construction of new water mains, replacement of old TC.E. waterlines, and a number of Chapter 90 roadway improvements.

Conservation Commission
The Dartmouth Conservation Commission was one of the earliest Commissions in Massachusetts holding its first meeting in 1961.

Council on Aging
The Council on Aging designs, promotes and implements services for Dartmouth's elderly, persons sixty years and older. The nine Council members are appointed for three year overlapping terms by the Selectmen.

Department of Public Works
The mission of the Dartmouth Department of Public Works is to provide and maintain the public services necessary for the continued growth and improvement of quality of life of the citizens of Dartmouth.

Fire Districts
Dartmouth's three Fire Districts are autonomous local units, separate from the Town. Voters in the Districts elect their officers, including Prudential Committee, Fire Board of Engineers and Clerk. The Fire Districts have recently voted to have the position of Fire Chief appointed by the Prudential Committee to allow for stability in the office. The Prudential Committee and Fire Chief in each District oversee the day to day operation of the department.

Harbormaster
Appointed by the Select Board, the Harbormaster is aided by Assistant Harbormasters, whom he appoints. The Harbormaster is primarily responsible for the overall safety and well-being of 81 miles of Dartmouth coastline.

Health
The Dartmouth Board of Health's mission is to foster a healthy community by working to protect the community from environmental hazards, prevent the spread of disease, to assure safe water, a safe and healthy food supply, clean air, and acceptable housing.

The Human Resources Department collaborates with town officials, supervisors and employees in a fair, consistent and lawful manner to create and administer policies and practices that sustain professional, productive, efficient, and innovative work environments which support the Town and its departments in effectively performing their missions.

Management Information Systems (MIS) Department
The MIS Department is responsible for the overall operation of most of the town's financial applications, non-School user network, geographical information system, and assessor appraisal system.

Parks & Recreation
The Department of Parks and Recreation is a multi-division agency that manages the town's three-hundred-plus acre park system, public cemeteries, and recreational programming for the residents of Dartmouth.

The Planning Board offers extensive information about the Town of Dartmouth of interest to residents, as well as people and businesses wishing to locate in the Town.

Police Department
The purpose of the Dartmouth Police Service is to uphold the law fairly and firmly, to prevent crime, to pursue and bring to justice those who break the law, to keep the peace, to protect, help and reassure the people in Dartmouth, and to be seen to do all this with integrity, common sense, and sound judgment.

School Department
The Dartmouth Public School's mission of providing Quality Learning for All, is focused on requiring and supporting higher levels of achievement from all students.

Town Administrator
The Town Administrator shall be the chief administrative officer of the town of Dartmouth within the policies and goals established by the select board.

Town Clerk
The Town Clerk's Office is open for all services.

Town Collector
The Collector's Office is responsible for the billing and collection of all monies due the Town; such as all Town tax bills, including real estate, personal property, auto excise, boat excise and utility bills including betterments and Title V, water / sewer betterments and trash bills.

Town Moderator
The Town Moderator presides over all Town Meetings and abides by all rules governing the format and necessary vote requirements for each article on the Town Meeting floor.

Veterans Services
"Flags Across Dartmouth" flags will be located in the Dartmouth Veterans Office for the public.

The Youth Commission began in 1968, as a collective response for the community to the growing needs of the town’s youth.
