Rules for Borrowing Materials
You must have your card with you to check out items. There is a limit of 40 items per card including up to 10 DVDs.
Books
Books circulate for two weeks. A longer borrowing period may be requested upfront at the first checkout on all but new books and best sellers. The Library reserves the right to recall a book. Books receive 2 automatic renewals provided there are no holds on the title. The overdue fine for books is 10 cents per day per item.
Patron Select Books
Borrow popular titles without waiting on hold. These books circulate for two weeks and are not eligible for renewals. Late charges are 50 cents per day.
Magazines
Magazines circulate for two weeks. Magazines receive 2 automatic renewals provided there are no holds on the title. The overdue fine is 10 cents per day per item.
Audiobooks: Books on CD
Books on CD circulate for two weeks. Books on CD receive 2 automatic renewals provided there are no holds on the title. The overdue fine is 10 cents per day per item.
Audiobooks: Books on Tape
Books on Tape circulate for two weeks. Books on Tape receive 2 automatic renewals provided there are no holds on the title. The overdue fine is 10 cents per day per item.
Music CDs
Music CDs circulate for two weeks. Music CDs receive 2 automatic renewals provided there are no holds on the title. The overdue fine is 10 cents per day per item.
Videos
DVDs are limited to 10 per check out.
All individual Videos/DVDs circulate for one week and DVD sets/nonfiction DVDs circulate for 2 weeks. Videos/DVDs receive 2 automatic renewals provided there are no holds on the title. The overdue fine is.10 per day per item.
MuseumPasses
Museum passes are sponsored by Friends of Dartmouth Libraries, Inc. Reservations are accepted for museum passes using Tixkeeper. Museum passes are available to holders of a SAILS Network borrower's card. Returnable Passes must be returned directly to the library where you borrowed it by the day after it is used. Coupons do not need to be returned.
If the passes have not been returned by the following day, a late fee of $5 per day will be imposed.
Lost / Damaged & Paid Item Policy
If a patron loses or damages any item they have borrowed on their library card, they must pay the replacement cost of the item and may not be able to borrow any other material until the late charges on their card are less than $10.
