Library To-Go Curbside Pickup Begins Monday June 1st

The Dartmouth Public Libraries will begin Phase 1 of the Library Reopening Plan on Monday, June 1st.

Beginning June 1st, library staff members will be onsite at both branches to answer the phone and make holds available to patrons between the hours of 10am-6pm Monday through Friday. However, the buildings will remain closed to the public until further notice.  Only holds pickup and phone service are available at this time. To speak to a staff member at either building, press 1 when you hear the recorded message.

The pickup location at Southworth Library will be the back entryway, and at the North Branch, the front vestibule.  There will be a table for holds pickup at each location.

The front entry at Southworth is only open for deliveries and mail at this time.

Please follow these steps when you want to pick up your holds:

Step 1: Before you leave home, call ahead to let staff members know you are coming and give them a time estimate.  They will need time to pull your holds, check them out to your card, and package them for pickup before you arrive.  Be prepared to tell them your library card number as well as your name.

Step 2: When you get to the parking lot, the library’s outer doors should be open.  Your items will be on a table in the entryway.

Step 3: Your hold items will be put in a brown paper bag or wrapped with a piece of paper and a rubber band.  The first initial and last name of the patron will be marked on the bag or the paper.

Step 4: Please wear a face mask when you come to pick up your holds.

You may place new holds on items that are on the shelf in either building by using the online catalog or calling to speak to a library staff member.  Please do not ask staff members to make selection decisions for you.

Please call the library before you set out to pick up your items.

Please do NOT leave items to return on the holds tables. The library provides 3 drive-up library book returns, 1 at each library and 1 at Town Hall.  They are all open now and returned items should be left in them to be set aside in quarantine.

Please do NOT leave any donations of books or other items.  The library is not accepting any donated materials at this time.

Patrons can reach the Director of Libraries, Lynne Antunes, by calling Southworth Library at 508-999-0726 and pressing 4105.
