Do you find yourself waiting for weeks or months for the most recently released movie on DVD? If you prefer not to wait, there is another option available to you. For a small fee, you may now rent copies of the most popular new movies.
The Dartmouth Library Foundation is purchasing extra copies of DVDs for the rental collection. These rental copies are blocked from filling holds, so that patrons will be able to find new items on the shelf for immediate check-out. Southworth Library owns copies of all DVDs in the rental collection, and patrons have a choice of placing a hold on the library copy, or paying a fee to borrow the rental copy. The rental fee is $2.00 per week per item, with a late charge of $ 0.50 per day. Rental fees are collected at the time of check-out.
All funds generated through the rental collection belong to the Dartmouth Library Foundation, and will be used to continue the collection and to benefit the Dartmouth Public Libraries. It is our hope that the rental collection proves to be both a convenience for patrons, and a source of revenue for the Foundation to use in its mission to enhance library activities.
